Sylvia Falls

Description

This image is 48 x 20-inches (122 x 51cm) in size. This image is available only on aluminum. I tried printing this on canvas but the texture of the bubbly water is cancelled out by the grain of the canvas and I didn’t like the effect. On aluminum all of the detail and texture comes through so that’s why I sell it this way. This print is available for shipping or pick-up in Vancouver.

This is a close-up photo of Sylvia Falls on the Mahood River in BC’s Cariboo Region. The river flows from Mahood Lake down into the Clearwater River in Wells Gray Provincial Park. I love the texture of this waterfall -the way the water bubbles and foams as it cascades down the gravelly rock face. Each frothy bubble is frozen in time. The water level in the lake and river was quite low at the time this photo was taken. I was standing in the river in water up to about my knees when I shot this. At other times of the year, I don’t think I’d want to get this close to the falls -or venture out into the river.
